EMPLOYEE BENEFITS

Wawanesa believes benefits are an integral part of the total work environment and is proud to provide a generous benefits package for each of its employees.

Medical, dental and other insurance - Security through insurance

Medical insurance is available through two HMO systems providing hospitalization, a prescription drug plan, vision care and chiropractic services. A comprehensive dental plan is available through a PPO (preferred provider option) allowing participants to choose a dentist within a selected group or one of their own choice. Term life insurance is provided at four times the employees' base pay with an additional AD&D (accidental death and dismemberment) policy included. Long term disability insurance (LTD) provides income security for individuals disabled from the workforce in excess of six months.

Pension and savings plans - Financial planning for the future

Wawanesa provides both a defined benefit pension plan and a 401(K) salary deferral plan. Contributions to the pension plan are paid entirely by the company and provide income security in the retirement years. The 401(K) plan offers each employee the opportunity to plan for their future financial security through a salary deferral program that reduces taxable income, provides a company paid matching portion and investment diversity. Eligible employees participate in the company's profit sharing plan and share in the financial success of the company after a pre-determined threshold profit level is achieved.

Vacations, holidays and other time off - Quality time away from work.

Wawanesa employees begin to accrue vacation at the rate of two weeks (10 days) per year. A third week is added in the third year of employment and a fourth in the tenth year of service. A generous 13 day holiday schedule is also provided which includes 11 designated holidays and two floating holidays. A sick leave accrual plan provides protection and income when time off is needed due to illness of the employee. Accrual is at the rate of one day for each month of service.

Additional benefits - Making work a little easier

A confidential Employee Assistance Program is available to assist employees experiencing personal problems. Direct deposit is available through most banks and credit unions. A gym/exercise room is located on site. There is no charge for parking and Wawanesa is conveniently located in Mission Valley, close to Qualcomm Stadium. Wawanesa employees work a 7.5 hour work day and casual day is observed every payday.
