EMPLOYEE BENEFITS
Wawanesa Insurance is committed to providing a competitive array of employee benefits as part of our total compensation package. These benefits are designed to assist employees in creating a healthy work-life balance, as well as helping plan for retirement and enhancing personal financial security.
The following is a brief summary of the 2012 benefits Wawanesa provides to full-time employees.
Medical, dental and other insurance - Security through insurance
Health Insurance:
Wawanesa has two Great Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) Plans available to choose from through Kaiser and Aetna. Employee coverage is 100% paid by Wawanesa and family coverage is subsidized.
Dental Insurance:
A comprehensive dental plan is available through Aetna's Freedom of Choice Dental plan. Wawanesa pays 100% of the employee's dental premiums and subsidizes family premiums.
Wawanesa also provides, at no cost to employees, both Group Term Life Insurance and Long Term Disability Insurance policies. The Term Life Insurance policy is provided at four times base pay with an additional AD&D (accidental death and dismemberment) policy included.
Pension and savings plans - Financial planning for the future
Wawanesa provides both a defined benefit pension plan and a 401(K) salary deferral plan. Contributions to the pension plan are paid entirely by the company and provide income security in the retirement years. The 401(K) plan has an employer match and offers the opportunity to plan for future financial security through a salary deferral program that reduces taxable income.
Additionally all employees participate in the annual Goal Achievement Plan (bonus program) and share in the financial success of Wawanesa.
Vacations, holidays and other time off - Quality time away from work.
Vacation
Vacation accrues at the rate of 2 weeks (10 work days) per year during the first 3 years of employment. Accrual goes to 3 weeks (15 work days) per year after 3 years of employment, 4 weeks after 10 years and 5 weeks after 20 years of employment.
Holidays
Wawanesa recognizes 13 holidays annually, 11 designated holidays and two floating holidays.
Sick Leave
Wawanesa provides paid sick leave when an employee cannot work due to illness.
Additional benefits - Making work a little easier
A confidential Employee Assistance Program is available to assist employees experiencing personal, financial or legal problems. A Health Center/gym is located on site for employee use. Wawanesa is conveniently located in Mission Valley, close to Qualcomm Stadium and offers a business casual dress code.
Please note that these benefits may vary based on employment status, e.g. full-time vs. part-time.
